George & Allen
Located in Waterloo, Sydney George & Allen is a fusion of the much-adored warehouse-style living, with the refined comforts of apartment living. Reflecting the post-industrial area in which it is located, collaborating with architects Turner Studio, the articulation of brickwork in bold geometries, comprise a faceted façade. There is a purposed robustness to the exterior that Hecker Guthrie wanted to respond to internally.
With each apartment having its own northern facing aspect, the use of space internally, to take advantage of this, was key. A palette of contemporary and knowing finishes – warm timbers, notes of grey, v-groove lining board, steel framed glazing, brass fixtures and fittings and glass. Partitions divide zones, softened by heavy textures and an exposed concrete soffit allows for the industrial to be present. A multi-residential development, seizing its industrial past, George & Allen is about redefined apartment living.
